Honda changes plans on use of former motorcycle plant
It'll be used as staging area for parts assembly, company says

Honda will use its former motorcycle plant in Marysville as a staging area for parts assembly, operated by an outside company. This is different from the previously announced plan for the space, which was to be used for assembly of vehicle suspensions.

Honda said yesterday it will open a "consolidation center" run by a separate company, Midwest Express. The center will be used to take components from off-site suppliers and organize them to the point that they can be taken to the nearby Marysville auto assembly plant. Midwest Express is already a major service provider for Honda, with a plant in the vicinity of the two assembly plants. Midwest will continue to operate its plant, in addition to its new presence in the former motorcycle plant. Among Midwest's current tasks for Honda, it takes tires and wheel components and assembles them. Honda declined to say how this move would affect overall employment, or what parts would be assembled in the center. Spokesman Ron Lietzke said those details would be released later. The now-cancelled plan for suspension assembly would have been handled by another outside supplier, Marion Industries. Marion will continue to serve Honda, even though this particular plan was not completed.

Harley driven up by possibility Honda may buy it

Investors think it's credible. They expect an announcement in the short term and a big move in the stock. Thief Takes Motorcycle From Dealership

A man stole a motorcycle from a Honda dealership while pretending to be interesting in making a purchase.
Wednesday, August 5, 2009

A man who was looking at motorcycles recently at Carmichael Honda Sports on Fair Oaks Boulevard asked to hear what the engine on one of the shop's top-of-the-line bikes, a Honda CBR 1000, sounded like. A store employee told the man he would let him hear the engine of a similar bike that was being worked on in the service area.

When the employee turned his back, the man took off on the second bike. The heist was caught on video. The man is described as 6'1", 220 pounds 35-years-old with brown hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt, shorts and sunglasses. The bike was worth over $11,000. Anyone with information is asked to contact the CHP.

2011 Goldwing Model

Details of Honda's all-new 2011 model Gold Wing are emerging, along with the news that it's likely to be released a lot earlier than planned. Australian MotorCyle News is reporting the new Wing will jump from 1800cc to 2000cc, and retain its horizontally-opposed six cylinder format but will have both twin overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder, similar to the EVO6 concept (pictured with 2009 Gold Wing) it showed at the Tokyo MotorShow 2007.

Beyond that, the bike is shaping as a technology showcase with Honda's variable cylinder management, a beefed-up Human Friendly transmission, airbag system, ABS braking, GPS, electronic traction control, Bluetooth phone integration and an iPod compatible sound system

Honda's Goldwing Factory to Cease Production in U.S.

HONDA has announced that all motorcycle production in its Marysville plant is to be moved to Japan, marking the end of almost thirty years of Goldwing production in the plant. Opened in 1979, the Ohio factory currently builds 120 Goldwing and VTX models every day, but production of the motorcycles is due to move to Honda's new Kumamoto plant in 2009, where other bikes currently built in the Hamamatsu factory will also be built. The Marysville plant will continue to build Honda's other products, and all staff will be moved onto new production lines negating the need for layof.
